A Very Good Year: A Wine Book You Should Read
A Very Good Year: The Journey of a California Wine from Vine to Table. This book turned out to be a very insightful look into the culture of one winery, Ferrari-Carano Winery. The premise of this book is to follow the grape harvesting through winemaking and release of a single bottle of wine from California. Specifically the 2002 Fume Blanc from the Ferrari-Carano Winery.
I learned quite a bit about winemaking and grapegrowing, not all of the scientific specifics, but enough to help me understand and know more than I did before reading this book. Even has some insight into the business side of running a winery. The marketing guys have a tough time, I wouldn't want to be one of those guys, but I know a little bit about the kind of guy I would need in order to run a successful winery. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to find out more about running a winery, a great behind the scenes guide.
