DaVinci Chianti 2003 (Italy)
Price - $9.99 Size - 750 mL- Wines of the World Wine Tasting held on Saturday May 14, 2005 at the Powers Liquor Mart in Colorado Springs with Elizabeth Smart of Mountain Wine Distributing.
Wine is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Syrah which is uncommon for a Chianti, the wine sees 2 years ageing on oak and 1 year ageing in the bottle. Chianti Classicos would receive more ageing and Chianti Classico Riservas would see the most ageing. Wine is deep red with heavy legs. It has an earthy and leathery nose. The flavors are of earth and leather with a tiny bit of bitterness. There is some tartness but also good fruit and some jammy features. The wine finishes clean with no hint of heat and a little bit of bitterness. Buy Da Vinci 2003 Chianti . Grade: B
