Baron Philippe de Rothschild Médoc 2001 (France)

Price - $13.99 Size - 750 mL- Old World vs. New World Wine Tasting held on Monday May 16, 2005 at the Powers Liquor Mart in Colorado Springs with Will Gillum, comparing representative varietals from Old and New World Styles. I posted some thoughts I had before the tasting, and thoughts I had after the tasting.

This wine from Bordeaux is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot and is filtered. Very dark color but clearer due to the filtering. Has medium to heavy legs with cherry and strawberry on the nose. Has a good mix of fruit and earth. Ends long with a nice hint of mushroom. Would go well with big flavored meats.
